Taking echinacea at the first sign of sickness may be useful and the flowers are a lovely addition to any garden. The fresh flowers can be used to make an extract. I’ve included a link to a YouTube video with instructions. I chop mine in a food processor first and then cover with 2-3 inches of vodka, choosing the fold method of our home use. It is ready to strain after sitting in a cook, dark place for 4-6 weeks, and being shaken daily.
